WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
TRITON OFFSHORE
Scaldis and Triton have plenty of work ahead.
Kevin Michiels is the head of the drawing department at Scaldis Salvage & Marine Contractors in Antwerp. He loves his young family, his garden, and ships – especially those involved in offshore duties. For his own duties, he enjoys collaborating with Triton Offshore. “They make me impatient – in a good way.”
Kevin shares: “I’ve known Richard for a while. 2,5 years ago, he suggested Triton Offshore to me when Scaldis got more and more project-based jobs, and I became lead. Richard then introduced me to an experienced technical draftsman who has been an immense help.”
This partnership evolves into Triton becoming a flexible layer for Kevin’s team. They create execution drawings that serve as manuals for project procedures, ensuring that both the crew on board and the client understand them.
“This enables Scaldis to take on more work. Thanks to Triton Offshore’s expertise, work ethic and honesty, I can rely on the high quality of their drawings at all times. That gives me a lot of peace of mind.”
Challenging future plans
Kevin will soon be working with Triton Offshore on a challenging project.
“We will continue the decommissioning of six platforms in the Hewett field over the next two years. I need to manage an array of expertise, people, and information to ensure efficient project execution, which makes my job complex. The platforms themselves are complex as well. They’re too large for the capacity of our vessels, so we need to lift and remove them in sections. This requires a lot of engineering and preparation, and Triton Offshore is helping us with that.”
But more work lies ahead, as Kevin well knows.
“The North Sea is full of gas and oil platforms, while the oil there has depleted. Decommissioning those platforms, while building substations for sustainable wind parks, means we still have plenty of work ahead.
“I hope to continue working with the Triton Offshore guys. Their infectious enthusiasm, especially for Scaldis’ future plans, makes me impatient – in a good way!”
